A bleeding heart, rainbow fueled, passionate nightingale has taken a form that is Geexella.
“ I like to call myself an intersectional hip-pop artist. The things that makes me geexella are being queer, black, and Latina; the qualities that aren’t only parts of me, but what drives me the most. I’d like to bring that out in the music I create and when I perform.”
Bred in Maryland whilst raised in the sunshine state, geexella has influences varies from southern hip-pop to bachata which derives from her family. This afro-latina has generated a new sound with a fusion in her roots. A sound not only invigorate the soul, stimulates the mind but also embodies who she is. And who is she? a person that wants to change the world through her harmonies. But she doesn’t stop there. geexella is involved in Girls Rock Camp Jacksonville for over three years, it is an organization that cultivates self-empowerment and positive identity development in girls and trans-youth. She believes in personal freedom, and often spoke for the misunderstood that felt alone in this deep vast universe we call home.
It hasn’t been always smooth sailing in the life of geexella either. She is the living product of her battle scars and she is proud of it. She survived an almost disastrous collision which caused her car to flip three times, and climbed out physically unscathed. But the blood inside her was boiling, as she has been granted a new life by the grace of God. Geexella has dropped her first EP “gee things.” Altering the world one microphone at a time.
